To Α.Π.Θ., στο πλαίσιο μετατροπής του στο πρώτο οικολογικό πανεπιστήμιο της Ελλάδας, την Τετάρτη 22 Δεκεμβρίου 2010 και ώρα 10.00, βελτιώνει το μικροκλίμα και περιορίζει τη ρύπανση του κέντρου της Θεσσαλονίκης, φυτεύοντας 120 δέντρα και 500 θάμνους, όλα ελληνικά φυτικά είδη, στην περίμετρο του campus του πανεπιστημίου.
