Timmons Group Announces Upcoming Webinar on GIS and Crisis Mapping with VIPER Creator Bobbie Atristain
RICHMOND, VA – November 22, 2010 – a leader in enterprise geospatial products and services, is pleased to announce an upcoming webinar on GIS and crisis mapping use and design. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, November 30th, from 2pm to 3pm EST. You are invited to join Timmons Group staff to learn the fundamentals of crisis mapping and emergency management. Learn how to bring different source material together for mashups, and how to use those mashups in conjunction with your own GIS data.
Our featured presenter will be Bobbie Atristain, whose contributions to online systems – including extensive work with ArcGIS Server-based emergency management applications – have resulted in the progression of interoperable communications within Homeland Security. Before joining Timmons Group, Bobbie was previously employed by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, where she served as the technical lead and primary developer of the Virginia Interoperability Picture for Emergency Response (VIPER).
Bobbie’s efforts on VIPER have received numerous awards, including the Special Achievement in Geographic Information Systems Award by ESRI International, the Governor’s Technology Award for IT as an Efficiency Driver from Governor Kaine, and 2nd Place in the International Association of Emergency Managers Technology & Innovation Award. Her work has directly contributed to the growing use and development of emergency management tools throughout the nation, and has been presented to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Chief Technology Officer, Aneesh Chopra.
Bobbie will demonstrate her latest emergency management application throughout the webinar and explain use-case scenarios that led to the creation of VIPER.
