ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ

Οι εξελίξεις τόσο στο τεχνολογικό, όσο και στον επιστημονικό τομέα, δεν αφήνουν αδιάφορη τη δασική επιστήμη, μέρος της οποίας είναι και η δασική διαχειριστική. Η δασική διαχειριστική ασκείται σχεδόν 5 δεκαετίες και ορίζεται από προδιαγραφές που ισχύουν όλα αυτά τα χρόνια. Είναι επιτακτική ανάγκη να αλλάξουν οι προδιαγραφές αυτές και ήδη υπάρχουν νέες σκέψεις στο θέμα αυτό. Οι νέες προδιαγραφές θα πρέπει να στηρίζονται στην αειφορική διαχείριση των πολλαπλών χρήσεων ή σκοπών, όπως επιτάσσει η παγκόσμια τάση. Πλέον, η αειφορία της ξυλοπαραγωγής θεωρείται ξεπερασμένη και θα πρέπει να δίνεται σημασία στα υπόλοιπα προϊόντα του δάσους και τις λειτουργίες του. Στην κατεύθυνση αυτή κινείται και η παρούσα Μελέτη Προστασίας και Διαχείρισης. Θέλοντας να εφαρμόσει πολλαπλών χρήσεων διαχείριση στη περιοχή μελέτης, που είναι το Δημόσιο Δασικό Σύμπλεγμα Λιβαδερού – Μυρσινέρου – Αετού – Ξηροποτάμου – Καλλιφύτου – Μοναστηρακίου της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Δράμας (Διαχειριστικής Περιόδου 2014-2023). Για να ολοκληρωθεί η διαχείριση, προτιμήθηκε η λύση των Γεωγραφικών Συστημάτων Πληροφοριών (ΓΣΠ). Οργανώθηκε με όλα τα απαραίτητα η Γεωβάση Δεδομένων, αφού προηγήθηκε συλλογή, επεξεργασία, ταξινόμηση και επέκταση των δεδομένων. Ακολούθησε η χρήση των χωρικών δεδομένων που προέκυψαν, στη λήψη διαχειριστικών μέτρων βάσει την αειφορία των πολλαπλών χρήσεων και την χωρική τους κατανομή.

ArcGIS: The Road Ahead

Sharing and collaboration will be the primary focus of ArcGIS 10.1, scheduled for release in early 2012.

This release will make it simpler to put mapping and geospatial analytics into the hands of more people without requiring that they be GIS experts. As an ArcGIS user, you will be able to deliver any GIS resource, such as maps, imagery, geodatabases, and tools, as a web service. The ability to access these services will be built into ArcGIS, as well as any application built with one of the ArcGIS APIs.

International Conservation Mapping Contest AWARDS

The Esri/SCGIS International Conservation Mapping Competition was organized to find and recognize the best conservation mapping work in the world today. We specifically used the term "mapping" in order to take in the wide variety of digital and online work that have expanded our concept of mapping well beyond static paper maps. In all we received over 100 entries representing countries and projects all over the globe. We are especially grateful to the international Society for Conservation GIS, who played a critical role in reviewing and juding all of the entries. Comprised of Conservation GIS practicioners and senior organization staff from every major non-profit conservation group and many environmental agencies and businesses, SCGIS is the foremost society representing and supporting Conservation GIS professionals worldwide (www.scgis.org).

Name Changes for ArcGIS 10.1

Among the changes planned for the early 2012 release of ArcGIS 10.1 will be the names of the various levels of the software program.  ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo are being dropped for the more self-explanatory nomenclature of ArcGIS for Desktop Basic, ArcGIS for Desktop Standard, and ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced (via APB and James Fee).  The reason for the change?  Esri explains in the Summer 2011 edition of ArcNews:“The reason for these modifications is to reinforce the fact that, regardless of where and how ArcGIS is used, it is the same system.” The new names make far better sense; I always felt the name ArcView should have been dropped when Esri deprecated its ArcView 3.x program.
